Doug Homeyer for St. Petersburg City Council District 6
Doug Homeyer is running for City Council because he believes in St. Petersburg and the people who make District 6 what it is. Through his involvement with the Chamber of Commerce and ongoing work in the community, Doug has spent years building relationships, supporting local businesses, and staying connected to the issues that matter most to residents.
He has seen firsthand both the strengths of this community and the challenges it faces. Rising costs, housing concerns, and the pressure on small businesses are not distant policy issues. They are real and immediate, affecting neighbors, families, and business owners throughout the district.
Doug is not new to serving this community. He has already been actively involved, and he believes it is time to take that commitment to the next level by serving District 6 on City Council. His approach is rooted in listening, engaging, and working alongside residents to find practical, lasting solutions.
His focus is simple and clear. District 6 should be a place where people can live with stability, work with opportunity, play in safe and vibrant spaces, and welcome visitors in a way that strengthens the local economy without compromising the character of the community.
This campaign is about continuing the work that is already being done, with greater responsibility and broader impact. Doug is committed to representing District 6 with integrity, accessibility, and a steady focus on the people who call it home.
Doug Homeyer is running for St. Petersburg City Council District 6 because he believes local government should focus on practical decisions that affect daily life: affordability, infrastructure, public safety, small business, responsible growth, and the long-term cost of City decisions.
Doug brings a background in finance, business ownership, civic leadership, nonprofit service, and community involvement. He is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Benefits Plus Financial in St. Petersburg, previously owned Homeyer Insurance in Little Rock, and has spent his career helping individuals, employers, and business owners plan responsibly, manage risk, and make long-term financial decisions.
Doug is also actively involved in the St. Petersburg community. He serves in Chamber leadership, including work with the Downtown Waterfront Committee, is a Chamber Ambassador and Board of Governors member, serves on the St. Anthony’s Hospital Foundation Board and Finance Committee, and is a member of the Rotary Club of St. Petersburg.
Doug regularly attends St. Petersburg City Council and committee meetings, participates in public events and neighborhood conversations, and continues traveling throughout the city to listen to residents, business owners, workers, and community leaders.
For Doug, public service starts with listening, studying the details, asking practical questions, and making decisions that protect the people who live here, work here, play here, and visit here.
